Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008LightsOutAkron
Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008OK. In a grand gesture, in honor of Earth Day, we have turned off unnecessary all lights. Larry even unplugged the tiny light in the bathroom. I’d feel Amish if I didn’t have my laptop — and the t.v. tuned to “Nova”. (T.V. doesn’t count if it’s educational). So, we’ve shown our solidarity with the Sierra Club and all the tree-hugging liberals who believe in global warming. My question is, did anyone else?
I’m going to light a candle. Wish I still smoked–it was easier to score matches.

Saturday, April 12th, 2008Spring Again
Tuesday, April 8th, 2008OK: So we were outside, reveling in the balmy 60+ weather, slowly easing into some of the spring cleanup of the flower beds–we hafta get the old muscles used to yard work–and some random woman walks by and tells us to watch out–another snow storm is coming. Now, she looks sort of marginal, so we smile, and obligingly groan at the thought of more snow, and exchange wishes for a good day, and continue on with our task as she continues on her own journey. And we laugh, because snow was not on the radar according to our sainted local weatherman, Dick Goddard. Well, damned if the evening news didn’t predict snow on Sunday. Two thoughts came immediately to mind: 1) I am SO bored with cold and snow and 2)Does our walking woman listen to a more accurate forecaster–or is she a seer?
Owen’s Baptism & Caleb’s Birthday Party
Sunday, April 6th, 2008Today was a big day in Eastlake. First, Owen was baptised. Jenn’s Grandpa was able to attend the ceremony, and he seemed very happy to be there. Ben & Steph are God-parents. Afterward, we went to Bob and Barb’s for a Baptism/Birthday party — belated birthday celebration for Caleb. It was a great to see everyone and amazing to see how the families are growing. Here are a few pictures — click on the collage to see more.

Educational Software
Thursday, April 3rd, 2008Just noticed GCompris, an educational software application for 2 through 10 year olds. It’s available on Windows and Linux and for the N800. I’m just installing it now for testing on Caleb’s next visit.
