COSI
Friday, August 21st, 2009We went to COSI (Center of Science and Industry in Columbus) today with Mike, Caleb and Owen. It was a lot of fun for them and us. Ohio was threatened by thunderstorms, but we were spared all but some refreshing sprinkles during lunch and walking to the car for the ride home. I can’t begin to recount the exhibits, but here are a few photos.

“Culture”
Friday, August 14th, 2009Ma and I went to the Cleveland Museum of Art this afternoon to bask in some culture. We saw most impressive collections of art in beautiful galleries. One piece, however, really stuck in my mind. It was a Japanese scroll (ink on paper) from 1300. The subject was a humorous tale of a man with a talent — “musical flatulence”. Now, I can’t recall the story from memory, but there was something about his friends convincing him to consume a laxative . . . and something about him soiling himself during a subsequent performance [tee hee]. Anyway . . . I could imagine Sebastian and Caleb sharing such a tale as they walked along at Hocking Hills.

My recollection was close, no?
Nanny and Poppy visit Lima
Thursday, August 13th, 2009We took Nanny and Poppy to visit the Lima Steidls and everyone had a great time. Caleb and Owen were as cute as ever. We swam at the hotel pool, had dinner (with live music) at Beer Barrel Pizza, visited at Mike and Jen’s, and sampled Jen’s Hungarian (hot!) wax peppers. The drive was pleasant with good weather and light traffic going and returning — what more could we ask?
Here are a few snapshots.
