Ma and Pa's Blog

This Poor, Neglected Blog

Facebook appears to be victorious.   There’s not much to say, and one outlet may be enough.   It’s sad to think that Ma & Pa’s Blog may wither and die from lack of posts.  Though I’m not planning any changes at present, I’ll have to evaluate down the road whether we continue to pay Siteground to host the site, or go with free Facebook and Picasa hosting.   Photos are the biggest concern, as our Coppermine gallery site is a nice alternative to backing up digital photos.  I expect if I go the Picasa route, I’ll soon be paying Google more that what unlimited storage costs at Siteground.  Who knows what the digital future holds.  Perhaps we’ll get to the point that nothing older than 6 months is even readable — like saving a precious stash of cassette tapes or floppy disks.   . . . ‘nough said.

For what it is worth I still prefer the blog with it’s longer entries and a layout that doesn’t give me an instant headache. I check FB and it is nice to keep abreast of day-to-day minutiae, but this site makes for a nice leisurely read without the excess “noise”. That’s my two cents…

I didn’t know anyone read this anymore. I think about posting occasionally, but it’d be just more of my usual drivel, only expanded more than what I post on FB. Maybe we’ll have to make an effort to write something here? It’s especially nice for more momentous occasions, like holidays, vacations, etc. You’re right, Larry. We’ll have to think about it. Thanks for your input, Jeff–does your interest include even boring ol’ day-to-day garbage?
